Privacy Policy

KokKok is a personal subscription tracker that stores the subscription information you enter on your own device.

1. Information We Handle

KokKok stores the information you enter in the app on your device. This may include:

If you choose a photo as a subscription icon, the app copies the selected photo into the app's private storage. The app does not delete the original photo in your photo library.

Card Payment Notification Detection (Android, optional)

On Android, if you turn on "Card payment notification detection" and allow notification access, KokKok analyzes on your device only the notifications that arrive after setup from the card or bank apps you choose, to find the merchant name, amount, currency, and time received, and suggests candidates you can review before adding them as subscriptions. This feature is off by default and may run while the app is closed.

2. About Estimates

The amounts, billing dates, countdowns, and statistics shown in the app are estimates calculated from the values you enter. KokKok does not check whether a payment actually succeeded, and it does not automatically cancel or change any external subscription service.

3. Data Sent Outside the App

KokKok does not send the subscription names, amounts, billing dates, payment methods, notes, or photos you enter to an app server.

If automatic exchange rate updates are turned on, the app sends a request for US dollar (USD)-based exchange rates to the Frankfurter v1 public exchange rate API. The request contains only the currency codes to look up (KRW, JPY, GBP, AUD, CAD, EUR) and does not include any subscription information or amounts you have entered. Frankfurter states that its public API does not collect or log personal data, IP addresses, or request URLs.

Frankfurter aggregates public reference rates from central banks and official institutions, and its v1 latest rates are updated daily based on the most recent business day. ECB statistics may be reused for commercial and non-commercial purposes, provided the source is acknowledged and the statistics are not modified. KokKok uses exchange rates only to calculate estimated amounts by converting the amounts you enter into the base currency you choose.

Exchange rate sources: Frankfurter v1 API, Frankfurter License & Terms, ECB statistics reuse policy. Source: Frankfurter and ECB statistics.

App Usage Statistics and Crash Logs (Firebase)

To improve the app, we use Google's Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. The following information is sent:

Subscription names, amounts, billing dates, payment methods, notes, and photos are not sent. We do not collect advertising IDs (Android Advertising ID, iOS IDFA) or the iOS identifier for vendors (IDFV), and we do not use this information for advertising or personalized ads. This information is processed by Google LLC to provide the Firebase services and may be stored on Google servers outside your country (such as in the United States). It is deleted after Firebase's default retention periods (up to 14 months for usage statistics and 90 days for crash logs). No data is collected in debug (development) builds.

Service List Updates and Price Change Alerts (Firebase)

To reflect service price changes without an app update, the app retrieves service list and price information through Google's Firebase Remote Config. This request contains no subscription information or amounts. The retrieved prices are compared with your subscriptions on your device; for subscriptions whose amount you have not edited yourself, the new price is used from the next payment date (earlier payments keep the old price).

We use Firebase Cloud Messaging to send price change push notifications. For this, a push token is issued per app installation, and the app subscribes to price alert topics for the services you have added (e.g., price_netflix_kr). Information you enter, such as subscription names, amounts, and billing dates, is not sent. The push token is processed by Google LLC to deliver notifications, and you will not receive them if you turn notifications off in your device settings.

Service Logos

To show a service's actual logo in your subscription list, the first time a logo is displayed the app requests the icon from Google's favicon service or the service's own website using the service's address (e.g., netflix.com), and saves the received logo in the device's cache folder. This request does not include information you have entered, such as subscription amounts or notes.

Backup Files

"Export backup" in Settings creates a file on your device containing your subscription information, settings, and the icon photos copied into the app, and sends it to a destination you choose (a messaging app, cloud drive, the Files app, etc.). This file is not sent to the KokKok developer and is kept according to the policies of wherever you save it. Because the backup file contains your subscription names, amounts, and notes as entered, please store it somewhere only you can access.

4. Permissions

5. Retention and Deletion

Your subscription information and settings are stored on your device. You can delete individual subscriptions in the app or delete all subscription data in Settings.

When you delete all subscription data in the app, the subscription information stored by the app and the icon files copied into the app's private storage are also deleted. The original photos in your photo library are not deleted.

When you delete the app, data in the app's private storage is deleted according to the operating system's policies. However, if you have turned on iCloud, Google backup, device backup, or restore features, app data may be backed up or restored to a new device depending on your operating system settings.

To display home screen and lock screen widgets, upcoming payment information (service name, amount, billing date, and icon) is stored in the widget shared storage on your device. This information is not sent off your device.

6. Sharing with Third Parties and Outsourced Processing

We do not provide or share the subscription information you enter with third parties. We entrust the processing of app usage statistics and crash logs, service list updates, and price change push notifications to Google LLC (Firebase). Exchange rate requests contain no subscription information and are used only to look up exchange rates.

7. Children's Privacy

KokKok is not a service directed primarily at children, and the current version does not offer sign-up or account features.
